Abstract

The importance of education and studying books is duly acknowledged in Islam. Based on this, the Prophet of Islam (PBUH) has declared the role and position of a teacher as the duty of prophethood. He said that “Indeed I have been sent as teacher to accomplish the cause of morality”. All the nations of the world got their distinctive position through educating their young generation. The book possesses a remarkable place in the process of education; because, the book is the treasure where the hidden knowledge is preserved. The manuscripts are the early forms of books. Before the printing press was introduced, the books were preserved in shape of manuscripts. These were utilized as source of transferring knowledge. Though a large storage of manuscripts in Islamic literature has been replaced by the printed form, yet a reasonable quantity is still found in its original form. The Maktaba Sharqia Islamia College is a prominent name in the list of Manuscripts Centre. Here, hundreds of manuscripts are still waiting to pass through the research. In this research paper, a few important samples of manuscripts in exegesis (Tafseer) have been presented with analysis which shall provide new information to readers.
